The 2010 recruiting season is quickly shaping up as tonight TheRedMenace.com has learned that Coach Mike Locksley and the University of New Mexico Lobos added two more players to their 2010 recruiting class.
First is transfer Lamaar Thomas aka "Flash" formerly of Ohio State University. Rumors of Thomas leaving the Buckeyes started circulating prior to their Rose Bowl victory this year. Shortly after the game Thomas was granted a release and New Mexico quickly became a front runner.
For those unaware, then Illinois Offensive Coordinator and current Head Coach Mike Locksley unsuccessfully recruited Thomas to the Illini… The "miss" then proved to be a good thing as Thomas is expected to enroll and start classes in Albuquerque next week.
It's a "Doz" Cuz!
6-0 185 Strong Safety Jerome Speights of Tampa Bay Technical becomes the 12th player to commit to the University of New Mexico this recruiting season. Speights visited Albuquerque in December when he attended the Lobo Football Banquet. Our own Wes Henderson spoke with Jerome who said, "I really like to hit," which should make D-Coordinator Doug Mallory very happy! With UNM graduating three safety seniors this year Jerome Speights should be able to come in and compete for a job right away. "I want to go to a school that I can play right away," said Speights. Which could be the reason the big safety turned down the likes of Michigan State, Purdue, and Western Kentucky to become a Lobo!
Triskaidekaphobia? Lobo fans hope not!
senior QB Donovan Porterie graduated this past season,
Coach Locksley made it be known early on that he was going after a
to run his spread offense. TheRedMenace.com has learned that UNM will
be hosting a
quarterback this weekend as Texas AAA Player of the Year Darian Godfrey
aka Stump is
visiting the 505.
