Robert
plays every position of the defensive line and is
currently out in camps to get his name out, “Last week, I went to
UTEP’s camp
and check this out, I got me a nice bit of turf burn,” says Scarpati.
“This
weekend I’m here at New Mexico, then I’m going to hit UTEP’s satellite
camp in
Houston later this month. I’ll also go to Houston’s camp in San
Antonio.”

A wound only a football player would be proud of!
I
asked the Robert why New Mexico? “I never really thought
about New Mexico, but they came to spring practice and they started
showing
interest in me, so I started checking them out over the internet and
saw that
New Mexico is an up and coming school, and they have a new coaching
staff. Coach
Locksley has had great success where he was before, and I thought it
would be a
great idea to come out and take a look at what they are doing.”
Are
you working hard out there? “I’ve been working hard at
camp,” said Scarpati. “That’s okay though I enjoy it.”
Which
led me to ask Robert what kind of a player he thinks
he is and what are his strengths. “I go hard every play until the
whistles
blows,” exclaimed Scarpati! “Never stop, having a great pass rush, get
to the
ball, I also like film work to see what the offensive lineman is doing,
that
way I know his techniques and tendencies for next week’s game.”
And
what have you learned from being at New Mexico’s camp
this weekend? “I have to work on my speed,” replied Scarpati. “Speed,
speed,
speed, that is all I’m hearing from these guys, is that you have to be
fast,
run, and be aggressive, get to the football all the time. Play balls
out every
time!”
At
this time Robert said he has no offers but is receiving
serious interest from UTEP. Scarpati also said that he is getting
interest from
New Mexico, Louisiana-Tech, Western Michigan, and Houston.
