When the name Chinyere
Nnaji comes
to mind for Plano Senior Head Women’s basketball Coach Lynn Meger, she
thinks
about how good a person and quality of player that Chinyere is.
Chinyere Nnaji gave a verbal
commitment to play for the New Mexico Lobos two days ago. Nnaji is a 3-year starter for
Plano
that was unable to play her junior year due to an ACL tear. Chinyere
has spectacular
career was off and running in her freshmen year as she started on the varsity team
and also
was awarded the new comer of the year as well as on the All-distract
teams.
Something that Chinyere Nnaji should be used to.
“She (Nnaji) does a lot of the
dirty work,” says Coach Meger on Friday afternoon during an interview
with
TheRedMenace.com Nnaji is almost avenging a double double this year,
scoring 10
points and nine boards a game. Meger also told us that Nnaji should try
to work
on her confidence, leadership and being a go to player. “She is still
in the
state of shying away from a lot of contact, but she is slowly getting
more
comfortable with it” says Meger. “But she really works her butt
on
defense” exclaims Meger!
New Mexico
can really expect a really, good solid player, “she will get their and
get more
points then boards her first year, but with her work ethic she will be
a
scorer” Nnaji is a person that spends a lot of time in the gym, “she is
just
one of those kids that is coach able will listen to you and but in the
extra
time and work on her game” says Meger.
Over her years here she has formed
herself into a more complete player, as a freshman she was a post or a
power
forward. However, through hard work and determination she has developed
in o a
good Small forward/guard that can shoot the three and create on her
own. She as
also developed a very nice three point shot. “Lobo fans are going to
like her a
lot” Says Meger
In the summer before her sophomore
season, Nnaji played with current Lobo Porsche Torrance on their AAU
team.
As
far as other schools looking at
Nnaji, she had a few offers Arkansas State, Oklahoma and Kansas State, were on
recruiting
her hard.
TheRedMenace.com
would like to welcome Chinyere
Nnaji and thank Coach Megar for her time.
