Lobo coaches keep the local talent in state.
Chad Adams Highland HS, Albuquerque made it
official today
as the 6’6 210lb small forward made it official today signing his
official
Letter of Intent to play for the University of New Mexico today
surrounded by
family, friends, and Highland High school coach Danny Brown and Granger
Hurricane’s President Marty Saiz.
TheRedMenace.com had the honor to speak with Chad on his big
day.
How does it feel to get your signing out of the
way?
It
feels real good I have been
waiting for this for a real long time I am real excited to be a Lobo.
What was the reason to choosing UNM?
It
had to do with the coaches,
players and fans; I get along really good with all of them. That is
what played
a major role in my decision.
Does it mean anything to you to be a local player
at UNM?
I just hope everyone can, look at me and see I am a
local player
with talent, and think that what people are looking for.
What other schools were on your list before you choose New
Mexico?
Santa
Clara, Fresno State and
Marquette offered, but I was looking at everyone. I felt New Mexico
gave me the
best chance to be successful.

What are your expiations for Highland HS this
year, is your
goal to get the State title?
We
have been looking at this for
four years; I am just ready to get the first few games out of the way
and get
the jitters gone and start the road to State.
What Can Lobo fans expect form you when you run
down that
Ramp?
Energy,
I am not expecting to come
out and be an all-star. I just hope I come in and have a role on the
team. Play
defense and help out in any way.
Did the fan base play a role in your decision to
come to
UNM?
Yeah
that always plays a role, when
there are a lot of fans you get a lot of attention out there. Those
games with
18,000 are the games I like to go to. It will be cool to play in front
of them.
Were you a Lobo fan even before you decided to come to UNM?
Yes,
I have always been to games, I
like to watch the Lobos play. I am going to go to all the games this
year.
