Wouldn’t you anticipate they are good? 4 of 5
starting
O-linemen, QB is back, the RB that was injured last year and has been
named
all-conference he is back 2 of their 3 wide receivers are back,. 2 DL
are back,
all their linebackers are back, and 3 of their 4 secondary are back,
don’t you
think they are going to be very good…
That
was Coach Rocky Long talking about the TCU Horned Frogs
as the Lobos will be taking on TCU this Saturday in the season opener.
How good
is TCU? Very good if you ask Coach Long, and anyone else out there… the
key to
TCU’s game. Speed kills!
Coach
Long says, “TCU has a fertile recruiting ground in the
DFW Metroplex area and could easily field an entire team from within
that area.
“I’m surprised when TCU has someone on their roster that isn’t from
Texas,”
said Long.
Since
TCU has joined the MWC the Lobos haven’t beaten the
frogs in 3 attempts. Including last year’s 37-0 thumping of the Lobos
in Ft.
Worth. Coach Long said, “We show them clips of last year’s game as we
prepare
them for this year. We don’t sit them down and watch the whole thing
though.”
Coach Long went on to add that, we have around 20 guy playing on
Saturday that
didn’t play against TCU last year.”
The
onus for this game falls on our boys in the trenches…
The Hitmen! According to Coach Long, “We have really good skill at the
wide
receiver position, they are young, but they are good, they can do good
things
but Porterie has to be able to throw. We have just as good as running
backs as
anyone else in the league, and Donovan is one of the 2 best
quarterbacks in the
league, but he can’t show that if they (Hitmen) can’t keep the
defenders off of
him.”
