Women's Hoops With Wes

Posted Jan 13, 2008

The Lobo women's hoops team are working on a late season run to the post season. Go inside to hear what Coach Shane Flanagan has to say about it.

Coming into this season people knew the women’s team is young, and untested and have know idea what the season would bring. Sitting at 8-6 and 0-1 in the MWC, most folks consider this season a rebuilding year, and for the most part I feel the same way, however, this team can still so damage in the MWC. There are some positives you can take from his team. They have been in every game this year and for whatever reasonseem to fall short at the end.

Amy Beggin has been a strong point for the team this year at guard, but the team goes as she goes, so far this year. The Wyoming wasn’t any different as Amy struggled all night. Dionne Marsh has struggled early this year, but the Wyoming game may have been the catalyst for her to return to all-MWC form as she finished the night with a team high 24. Still the Lobos didn’t prevail, but you can see with a few tweaks here or there this team can still put it together for a late season and MWC tournament run.

I was able to sit down with Asst. Coach Shane Flanagan for lunch after the Wyoming game and we talked about the Wyoming game and what it will take to get this team over the top and get that winning mind set back. We were able to touch on future Lobos Lauren Taylor and Sara Halasz. As well as other topics concerning this women’s hoops team… Enjoy it, and don’t mind the waiter during our podcast, he just wanted to make sure I didn’t want anymore desert.
