As many of you know almost 3
weeks ago UNM Senior WR Marcus Smith lost his mother Sheila. Being a college
student on scholarship meant he didn't have the money or ability to pay for the
funeral. Lobo fans and fans from all across the country of some of our rival
teams also stepped up to donate the money so Marcus could pay for his mother's
funeral.

media department released a statement thanking everyone that stepped up
monetarily and with emotional support. We wanted to make sure and pass his
message on to all of you.
To all Lobo fans who supported me
through this tough time, I want to thank you with all my heart. I can't put into
words how much your emails, cards, prayers and donations helped to uplift me to
stay strong and continue to keep working hard. I am forever in your debt and you
will always be in my heart.
