TheRedMenace.com has learned that Coach Don Flanagan will be hosting
5’11” guard Sara Halasz of Lakes HS Ft. Lewis (Washington)
Coach Flanagan and the women’s hoops team obviously hopes to make a great
impression on Sara as one of the schools UNM is battling for her services is
none other then MWC conference rival Utah Utes. This weekend visit is the
2nd one that we have learned as Sara spent last weekend in Salt Lake
City.
For those of you that don’t know much about Sara Halasz, I’ve taken some
time to acquaint myself with her game. From what I have been able to see Sara is
a tough guard that can run the court well, with good vision. She has a nice shot
from behind the arc, and can pull up for the mid range jumper as she finished
last season with a 16.1 point per game average.
Don’t think Sara is only a scorer, as she has no problem going down low
and doing the dirty work. Yes, Sara has no problem going and grabbing rebounds
and loose balls. Definitely something that any player on a Don Flanagan coached
team will be expected to do.
Last
season Sara led the Lakes Lancers to an 18-4 record scoring 16.1 points per game
while being named to the Seamount Pierce Division 1st team and the
news tribune named Sara Western Cascade Conference All-League Girls Basketball
player of the year.
