Offensive Coordinator Dave Baldwin talks offense with Rudy C.

Sammy Hagar wrote a song about "Red". In it, he sings the praises of everything in this world that he likes that is the color red. One thing he didn't mention is the Lobo offense, which wears red during all practices to separate them (Red) from the defense (Silver). I hope at season's end Sammy will take notice of the Lobo offense and color it red and explosive!

The interview with new OC Dave Baldwin speaks for itself, but, I would like to point out a couple of other players that caught my eye in today's concentrated 2 hour practice capped by a 15 minute scrimmage at the end. The Lobos wore shoulder pads and helmets for the third practice of 2007 fall camp and the first day of FULL PADS first looms this Monday.

Nevertheless the intensity is already bursting out, as the coaches were not about to allow any slips in concentration or execution. New offensive coordinator Coach Baldwin is a stickler for detail and it was evident in the constant correction and coaching that all the coaches were doing, however, it was Baldwin himself that sets the example. It is nice to see when Baldwin or another coach has to get on a player, they don’t just yell for the sake of screaming, they get on the player in a constructive manner while always teaching. It is clear to me that the offensive side of the ball that the players are trying to please the staff, and in my opinion have responded very well to the coaches and the playbook.

If you listen to the interview witch Coach Baldwin he talks about the offensive line and how much better The Hitmen are with the return of C Vince Natali, OT Devin Clark, and the emergence of Sylvester Hatten. Obviously, these three gentlemen are bringing nasty back!

Devin Clark

Sylvester Hatten

Offensive player of the practice went to one of those Nasty Boys Vince Natali who is a sight for sore eyes. He got pummeled on one play, got up, went back to the huddle never missing a play, and made a definite impression on everyone who saw how tough you have to be to play D-1 football.

Vince Natali lead sled dog!

Defensive player of the practice was Michael Tuohy. He knows what has to be done after what happened at end of last season and it appears that he is doing exactly that as Michael is working like his usual high motor self, and has pushed himself back into the starting lineup.

The 505 player of the practice was Las Cruces' own Chris Hernandez. He is making a case for playing time by making some nice catches in traffic and showing good hands!
