Rocky Long once again dips into the local high school football scene here
in New Mexico and comes up with another gem.
Rio Rancho RB Mike Love has committed to play for the University of New
Mexico. Love who has been named to the All-Metro team by all of the local papers
and arguably the best player in the state finished the season with 1,756 yards on the ground and 21 touchdowns for Rio
Rancho.
We spoke with the 5-11 215 lb running back a
couple of times this summer and according to Love he had offers from UNM and New
Mexico St., while hearing mostly from Boise St. and
UTEP.
Mike Love is the 3rd local high
school player to commit in as many weeks as he joins La Cueva’s Greyson
Wieczorek and Highland’s Jerrell Miller who recently committed. Other New Mexico
players that have committed for the upcoming signing period are Taos’ Zayn Bin-Bilal, Manzano’s Nicky Lawson, and Hatch Valley’s Roy
Hackey.
TheRedMenace.com
and Lobo fans would like congratulate Michael Love and look forward to seeing
him play in the Cherry and Silver.
