It doesn't seem that long ago that Alex Kirk was a young high school
player from Los Alamos that was making waves on the recruiting
scene. Rarely does the state of New Mexico
have a player of Kirk's
caliber and there were schools all across the nation paying

The big man decided to play for in state New Mexico where he went on
to have a solid career for the Lobos. Kirk suffered and injury and
sat out a year recovering from the injury and once his junior season
came to close he decided to opt for a professional career. There
were plenty of naysayers about Kirk's chances to play in the NBA and
he took it all in stride immediately heading down to Florida for
The NBA Draft came and went with Alex Kirk's name not being called
in either the first or second round, but the Cleveland Cavaliers
were quick to offer Kirk an opportunity with their summer league
team. An opportunity that the big man made the most out of averaging
15.4 minutes per game with 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
We spoke with Alex and asked if he felt he got a fair shot in Las
Vegas and what the future may hold for him.
