Juco Safety Hoping For Good News On Visit

Duron Singleton

Junior college safety Duron Singleton is hoping for some good news when he visits Auburn this weekend.

Fresno, Calif.--A talented junior college safety who is hoping for his chance on the next level, 6-1, 210 Duron Singleton from Fresno City College, is expected to visit Auburn this weekend. He will be looking to make a positive impression on Gus Malzahn and the new coaching staff for the Auburn Tigers.

"It (Auburn) has always been one of my favorites," Singleton tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I love the program and the tradition. They just came off a championship two years ago and they are looking for pieces to come in and play. That's why they are recruiting junior colleges and looking at me, I guess."

Growing up in New Orleans, Singleton said he was familiar with the Auburn program and would love to be a part of the Tigers now. Still waiting on an offer, he said he believes he would have a chance to play early with the need for safeties on the Plains.

"Anywhere I go I feel like I could come in and play early," Singleton said. "I like Auburn though. It's a cool school. I'm just looking for a place to play so I can make an impact."

With offers from Memphis, Stony Brook and several smaller schools, Singleton said Auburn wants to get to know him better on his visit and he's hoping an offer comes following the trip.

"They just want me to come up and see everything," Singleton said. "They said they are interested and like me a lot. I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just going to visit and see how everything goes and see what Auburn has to offer."

Not getting much interest coming out of high school and despite getting a look from schools such as Auburn, Syracuse and several others, Singleton is still waiting for his breakthrough offer. He said if that were to come this weekend it would mean the world to him.

"I'm excited about the possibility," said Singleton, who is scheduled to graduate this spring. "I love competition. I know I can play on that level. I'm excited to almost get my opportunity and I can't wait to see what's going to happen."
