San Diego State defeated UC Santa Barbara 84-70 on Thursday night...

THE FACTS: 17/15 San Diego State (7-1) shot 55.8% to outscore UC Santa Barbara 84-70. The Aztecs had five players in double figures with Chase Tapley leading the way with 23 points.

QUOTABLE: "We shot the ball the first half as well I've seen San Diego State do since I got here. Chase Tapley has been shooting the ball so well in practice that every time he shoots it, you think it is going in. We did a nice job against the defense that they played, which can be confusing. However, we didn't guard well enough in the second half, which has been evident in the last two games."

-- SDSU head coach Steve Fisher on the win against UCSB.

THE STAT: SDSU scored 46 points in the first half by making 17-of-28 shots (60.7%) and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc (75.0%).

THE NUMBER: 11. San Diego State made 11 three-pointers on 17 attempts (64.7%).

QUOTABLE II: "They've got a team that can play against anybody, much like coach (Fisher's) team a couple years ago where, on the West Coast at least, the only team they might have trouble matching up with is Gonzaga."

-- UC Santa Barbara head coach Bob Williams thoughts on SDSU for the rest of the season

HOT: Tapley continued to shoot lights out as he had a season high 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 6-of-8 from downtown.

NOT: Deshawn Stephens was the only starter who didn't score in double figures as he had 2 points. UCSB big man Alan Williams was more than a handful for Stephens who was in foul trouble.

FRESHMAN WATCH: Winston Shepard look extremely comfortable playing with Thames, taking him off the ball more. The highly touted newcomer had 4 points and 4 assists in 19 minutes.

NOTABLE: San Diego State won its 27th straight vs. teams from California, which is the longest active streak nationally and is the longest such streak since 1996-97.

UP NEXT: For San Diego State: Next Saturday vs. University of San Diego and vs. Point Loma (18th). For UCSB: Next Saturday vs. San Diego Christian and at California (18th). Recommended Stories
